As I scrolled through X and frequented various Discord servers, observing events, I found myself pondering: are basic human decency and good manners optional within the NFT space?
 
I don't profess to be an expert in any capacity. Rather, I'm just an average person sharing my experiences and thoughts on how to be a decent individual within the NFT community.


Introduction

The initial step towards being a good person in the NFT realm is conducting your own research (DYOR). This practice can assist in managing expectations and potentially averting future regrets. Such regrets could lead to disappointment in a project, which may negatively impact your reputation as a "good person" if you decide to voice your concerns.

If you're currently reading this, it's safe to assume that both you and I are human. As humans, we're all influenced by the fluctuation of our assets' values. Belief in your past decisions can mitigate emotional responses to market fluctuations, which are inherent in the NFT space.

Regardless of past experiences, it's essential to remember that for someone to profit, someone else may incur losses. Trends in the NFT space are rarely linear. We are responsible for our own decisions.

Personally, I strive to avoid greed as it enables me to approach situations with a lighter perspective.

DYOR and Manage Your Expectations

It's a fact! If you've done your own research, there's a good chance that the founder of your preferred project is a genuine human being. Fantastic! Treat them accordingly.

Individuals who choose to dedicate part of their lives to pioneering within this space deserve respect. Constant doubt, questioning, or belittling are unwarranted. If you've voluntarily joined their project, maintain a positive outlook and trust their leadership.

If disagreements arise, there's nothing preventing you from leaving and exploring other options. Venting frustrations and attempting to drag others down is not conducive to being a good person within the NFT community.

Unfortunately, negative opinions often garner more attention in my experience. Therefore, taking a moment to express appreciation for your favorite founder can go a long way.

The Founder of Your Favorite Project is Human

If we label ourselves as a community, let's behave like one.

Even though most interactions occur anonymously behind screens, it's not an excuse for uncivil behaviors. Words typed on a screen can have real effects on individuals. Treat others with kindness, just as you would in face-to-face interactions.

One of the beauties of the NFT space is that individuals can coexist within the same community without necessarily interacting directly.

Social Norms Apply in the NFT Space

Reducing the frequency of checking the market can contribute to a more enjoyable community experience. Market fluctuations are constant in the NFT space, so why subject yourself to constant monitoring?

Engaging in Discord discussions and enjoying the community's camaraderie is far more rewarding when discussions aren't dominated by complaints about floor prices. After all, isn't enjoyment the primary reason for our presence here?

Take breaks from the screen and indulge in activities that bring joy. Life is complicated enough; let's take it easy and connect with community members in a relaxed manner.

You Don’t Have to Monitor the NFT Market Every Day

As a community member, I recognize that my role involves actively participating in the ecosystem and spreading positive energy. However, I do so only when I feel inclined. If not, that's perfectly acceptable too.

Determining whether a project will benefit from a new development requires consideration of various factors, including current market conditions. Different parties within a community can have different opinions towards this. Keep in mind that genuine founders will generally choose sustainability rather than quick appreciation. While the founder governs the project, holders can provide valuable insights from their perspective.

Taking time to reflect amidst the whirlwind of the NFT space can offer a broader perspective.
